Hey there!

Welcome back to the land of LJ. I trust life is treating you well?

no complaints.

was working like a bastard for a while (that might have had something to do with the first week of my LJ hiatus, during some crunch time...)

now i have a little bit of a breather. i'm still on a project, but it's not as demanding as the others i'd been doing. it'll get intense again soon enough (end of march is going to start to suck...)

What about these crazy things? http://www.skates.com/landroller-p/120901.htm

I saw a video with, Olympic speed skating competitor, Apolo Anton Ohno using Landrollers. What he makes these things look capable of is amazing! You can even skate on grass, no problem! But they sure do look funny!

yeah, they don't look so great. but i can see some of the advantages.

for me, the problem is the narrowness and rigidity of the boot. for inline skates to be stable, they have to be relatively rigid. but i have wide feet and so wearing super rigid, much-too-narrow-for-me skates makes it feel like i'm the victim of foot-binding.

it's amazingly painful sometimes. (it was particularly bad at the last Freak Skate. those were my own skates, even. they are just regular Rollerblades. sometimes they hurt like bloody hell, and sometimes they just hurt like notquitehell. but they pretty much always hurt. since i'm not devoted enough to sink any real money into new skates, i'm probably never going to have a pair that fits right.)

my ankles are usually clad in a couple layers of leather and buckles...

She really likes buckles, and leather so far... my shoes are now hidden and I've only had her for a day!
