is it normal for female fencers (or male ones, for that matter) to scream like they're being brutally murdered, when a touch is scored against them?

cuz that's what i just saw (heard) in the women's sabre gold medal bout.

maybe those suits deliver agonizing shocks that i didn't know about.

she, nothing. it was *they*. they both screamed, often in the same round (since both people frequently get tagged in rapid succession).

one was certainly screaming louder than the other, but they both were shrieking.

nah. the gold medal winner - the blonde - was *screaming*. The other one just sort of shouted. Thus we have learned...blondes are more annoying.

Agreed. It is normal in fencing. For both sexes I believe.

normal in sabre, regardless of gender. epee and foil tend to be a bit more subdued, though I've fought a fair number of odd grunters.
