I find your bent flap part hilarious.
(Then again, it might be because I've been in a tabletop group running B-17 missions, and my last run resulted in me managing to limp back to Britain with no starboard flap, no starboard aileron, missing half my rudder, inboard starboard fuel tank leaking, and number 3 engine off (it had to be feathered after running away).)

In 7 missions with a 10 bomber formation, we've had 4 shot down (One flak burst in Pilot Compartment, One fuel tank fire, Two electrical failures) and 2 written off (One landed hard enough to be a write off, One crashed on landing.) And we haven't even begun to venture out of Fighter Coverage range...
