This journal is nearly all public. Since I read the friends list on jadine rather than the one here, I don't add most people to this list- it doesn't mean that I don't like you, or that I don't read your journal, or anything else.
an alternate solution would be to define a filter on one user and use that to read a select group. LJ made an odd design decision to make readling lists occupy the same namespace as filters, which caps at 32 i believe... so it's not perfect for all things... but it can do what your'e trying to do without an artificial need for 2 LJs. then again, i have over 30 myself so i'm weird...
I'm a little unclear as to what you're suggesting.
I have two active LJs so that people can opt in or out of the "fluff" by themselves, without me having to add or remove them from a filter. There's no way to do that on a single LJ.
Meanwhile, I use my full 30 filters on jadine for reading and posting.
