My office is in the International District (Chinatown). Of all Seattle, we have the highest density of good restaurants within easy walking distance.

So for the IT departmental lunch, why do we bus and walk two miles, through driving rain and unusually heavy winds, to eat mediocre barbecue?

Because, as one who works less than a block from you, asian food constantly can get to be old after awhile. :-)

Nooo, you lie :)

Seriously, there's so much variety, how can you get tired of it? It's not like you're just eating a single style or something.

Sometimes I want something that involves lots of cheese, tomato sauce or spicy cured ground meat. I would be hard pressed to find a place that offered dishes like that in the International district. If I were a vegan it'd be much harder to justify getting bored with the food, though I haven't found a good Indian restaraunt there yet either.

Because some people are afraid to eat "weird" food? (this is the phenomenon I have witessed among my coworkers)
