Definitely feel this. I'm bipolar and have been on, like, every med ever. >.< "Antipsychotic" is a pretty limited label, it's true. Seroquel has been really excellent for my mood stability and is particularly useful for knocking down mania, but the label does make it sound like a Big Scary Deal. (And, I mean, it sure isn't anything to screw around with. But used properly they can be good.) I've known people with unipolar depression who have been put on and benefited from antipsychotics. They have found this very very confusing.
I've been on more than a few by now, I was given this new med in the hospital because I only try atypicals inpatient because I've paradoxical'd on three already, Seroquel having a hilarious-in-retrospect story to it. Thanks for reading. :)
My ocd tendancies have me checking and rechecking the names and the labels on new tablets that I've not taken before, before putting them away and deciding I will start taking them tomorrow. I worry that I will have a bad reaction to them.
I enjoyed reading this. I think we get small insights into each others lives :)
