protest

The past few times I've gone to church (Wednesday for choir practice, and today to perform in the all-music service), there have been a couple of people sitting on the street corner holding signs that say "Pray to end abortion." I tend to take respectful, "subtle" protests more seriously. If you want to call sandwich boards "subtle"...

I hope that means they are also praying for better sex ed and contraceptive availability. Somehow I doubt it though.

Exactly. I even thought about engaging them to say so: "I am working hard to reduce the number of abortions, too. By helping Planned Parenthood." But ultimately I figured that I didn't really care to engage. People sitting in the rain for hours at a time to prove a point probably have got their minds made up.

Since I choose to believe that most people like this are totally ignorant, I think you'd need to be much more direct. Like "I thought it might be useful for you to know that most women who come here are getting birth control in order to avoid an abortion later. Just something for you to consider when choosing a protest location."

Also while they could be a lot worse/obnoxious, I'm not sure I can call it respectful since I'm prety sure the reason they chose that location was to indimidate women going into the clinic.

And most women go to places like that for annual checkups. Then again, most of these people have effectively blotted that out from their consciousness and would rather believe they're all there to get abortions. Sigh.
