So, Dan and I have been going around in circles for weeks now about how to get the kids on an earlier schedule than they have been on for the last few months, in the hopes that we might get some time for ourselves and for him to focus more on school. The schedule the kids have been on, up until a few days ago, has been approx 2am bedtime and approx ( Read more... )

I had no clue what "Ferberization" was until I read the word here. You learn something new every day!

I still think the Ferber method is cruel, but we have been going the Attachment Parenting method (a la Dr. Sears), and have found that it is perhaps too far in the opposite direction, failing to instill boundaries and reasonable expectations. I don't want to have to go so far as Ferberizing, but we need results and we need them fast! For the sake of Dan's schooling and all of our sanity...

I just really hope that tonight proves to be a better trial than last night...

So, you guys having kids any time soon? Hahahaha! Keep reading my blog and I bet not, LOL!

Seriously, it is worth it. And with day jobs and college already behind you guys, it should be much easier for you guys than for us... you know, whenever you are ready.... ;-)

No plans whatsoever to have kids. I actually was considering getting a snip job at one point because I really can't see myself wanting them, but the doc said you should consider the procedure "final" even if it is reversible in most cases, and I guess it seemed a little early to make a totally FINAL decision on that. Also his description of the procedure almost made me pass out. ;-)

That Ferber thing is how my parents dealt with me and my siblings but I didn't realize it had a name. It's all pretty interesting stuff, and I'm sure great advances have been made in the psychology of parenting. Definitely tough choices!

I love reading this stuff though from you because it's a window into just how much you guys care about your kids to explore all of these options.

Don't forget to check the calendar with Dan and let me know if there are any days you guys could come and game. I'm still totally up for a monthly thing if we can make it happen with Dan's schedule.

Dan's schedule is undergoing some changes in the near future, supposedly. We'll see if they actually make any changes or if it is all just a bunch of talk in the next few weeks. Plus, Dan put in for some vacation in a few weeks, so maybe we could work something out for that time... We will definitely keep you posted!
