Three episodes in, and I still love this show. This particular episode heralded our first change in writers (from Adrian Hodge to Susie Conklin), so I was interested to see whether there would be any obvious change in tone/quality, but I think this has been the best one yet.

I had no idea until I learned (see, the internet is good for some things) that Porthos's character is based on Dumas's own experience as a child of a slave.
I know writers will often base a character on themselves, but how often do screenwriters do that for the original author of an adaptation?
I do hope though, that they will stop killing off the female guest starts - 3 in the first 3 episodes is a bit off-putting (and Bonnaires wife was brilliant and her death didn't really seem necessary, unless it was to show more manpain)

I've also heard that Porthos's background was based on Alexandre Dumas's - I have plans to read up on in shortly!
