Microchips that function similarly to CSS but that have a much broader application. I wonder what other sorts of biological technology this run-down place is hiding ( Read more... )

Hey, lady, come on. Not everyone can be the epitome of stoicism.

I'm not asking for stoicism, I'm asking that the people here make better use of the time and resources available if they wish to get out of here as they claim.

CSS...?

Ah -- well, I suppose people do use it mostly for communication. Every day communication, I mean...since a lot of information about this place seems to be hidden from us.

How much of an effort has there even been to find more? Others who just arrived seem to be settling already, accepting a fate as a caged animal.

Lots of people have tried to leave...

What's CSS?

And what methods have they tried?

It's a substance that represses the abilities of certain lifeforms.

We've tried everything possible. There's no way out; people only leave when the scientists don't need them anymore.

Oh.

How can you be sure you've exhausted the possibilities?

From what I've seen of this place, there are very little, or none of the right materials to build a decent space vehicle.

This network is useful for communication you realize. A way of attempting to coordinate various survival efforts. From your remarks, Am I safe in assuming that you are new here?

There are other ways. No one has tried it yet, then, am I right?

I don't doubt its usefulness, but I've seen little of such attempts being made.

I arrived yesterday.

No doubt there are other ways. If I could I would have opened a portal and left weeks ago. However, we have microchips in our bodies suppressing any of our abilities. That makes things a little harder, as you may have realized.

I don't plan to keep this chip in me forever.

...They're easy to turn on.

Your question is assuming that we have the resources to do so.

Yes, assuming we do. No one has attempted it, isn't that right?

It's doubtful.

Of course, the rest of the individuals here can do what they please. I don't plan on staying here for much longer.

How do you plan to do that?
