my step-mother was sick for a very long time. she suffered more than any human should ever have to suffer, and complained about it less than anyone else would have. actually, i never heard a word of complaint out of her mouth

Heather was a genuine good person. I feel bad for not being there more and visiting her.

yes, she was. i feel bad for that too. but at the same time, i'm glad my memories of her are more of the good stuff, and less of her sickness. i just hate that such a great woman had to suffer so much.
