It becomes extremely hard sometimes to discern the difference between liking someone, loving someone as a friend, and wanting someone in a relationship. I've been able to keep them seperated for years, but I find that I'm needing someone more and more. I can so easily see how it would be perfect with some of my closest friends, but I think that ( Read more... )

I assume nothing with eternity, thus my lack of faith in christianity.
And call me an optimist, but I do believe in finding love, as you put it perfect love, in other people. Its all subjective, I know, but just like i can't deny the possibility of a god, I can't deny the possibility of love.

I don't deny the possibility of love, I'm merely saying we're searching in the wrong places.

As far as eternity, the good book has all of the answers. No Christian has to assume anything, ever. Not the existence nor the power, nor the will of God. Let me ask you Matt, do you believe that Jesus doctrine/sermon on the mount is a good way to live? How do you feel about all of that?

I'd have to say the word from the God of Abraham is all good and fine. A good proper way to live, where civility can rule over unjust anarchy, however its all common sense. The good book may have answers, but not to any questions I'd ask of it for the same reasons I wouldn't question nietchze about medieval fish ponds.

Consider this, if Christ is the lord, and he is all loving and forgiving, with infinite wisdom, patience, and kindness, he'll probably let me slide on the disbelief in a book written about him, not by him. Its too hard to trust the memory of even the purest man and its even harder to keep things objective.

"he'll probably let me slide." It sounds good, but it's absolutely not true. His mercy is balanced perfectly by his wisdom and justice. He set rules for us to follow, rules that we can never follow as we are all flawed. No one could ever follow every single rule daily for their whole life. That's why He came down. We are not deserving of salvation in the first place, so letting you slide isn't really the issue. We can never deserve or not deserve salvation by our actions. You can't doom yourself to hell by murder, you can't get into heaven by good acts (or the lack of bad ones), as we could never "Derserve" divine mercy. It is only by Jesus loving grace, by trusting in Him, and loving Him that we are saved. Only that.

Have you ever read the bible?
