I've spent the whole day with it stuck in my head, as one does when one has a remarkably vivid dream. All the energy, emotions and excitement are there; I remember the pure anticipation of life, the complete happiness of unconditional friendship, and the joy of discovering new things that comes from being young and in college. I found a cassette ( Read more... )

Wow. This discovery is really amazing. I keep forgetting that you used to do a radio program...coolest of the cool. I love what you have to say about always being your same person. Very poetic!

I can relate. Directly--I didn't have a radio show, but a couple of friends from my first year in college, 1991, did. Our station was your sound alternative though. I am still trying to figure out whether it was GWAR who covered "I Write the Songs" or someone else who sounded a lot like GWAR the same night I was examining a GWAR album for the first time. But moreso indirectly. Our daughter turned 5 today. I'll be 35 in a couple days. And yet I still remember with chilling clarity wandering around Nowhereville, Ohio one night sixteen years ago with two friends smoking clove cigarettes.

You know, I think you may be right. I've been trying to figure that out since the fall of 1992, I think, given that that's when "America Must Be Destroyed" came out.

It's gotta be nice to actually hear an affirmation that you've always been you - it's something I've always wondered about during retro/introspection - If I break out an old pair of shoes, they don't feel right, but they're still definitely my shoes. Cellularly speaking, we're constantly recreating ourselves, so the idea of a perpetual self is especially chewy.
All that aside, you gonna make with the mp3 or what?

In a way, I think people do this collectively too - they assume we've come so far since , and that we wouldn't dp the same thing in since we're so much smarter now. T'aint true I fear... and it's dangerous thinking to assume we're any different than man was even thousands of years ago... ah well.
