lol, that would be pretty awesome if they made a law saying you can't name your child michael, christopher and matthew, but i agree that they should.

for the sake of human decency! let's just let some of them die off before we start using them again... michael in particular.

Damn straight Audrey is a good name!

and I agree about the trendy non-names that will never cut it in the real world.

there was a girl in my eighth grade named CHRYSTLE. yeah, not only did her name suck, but no one could ever spell it. surprise!

the same site that has the lists of most popular names of each decade also has a "baby naming tips" page. they caution against getting too creative with spelling or the child might have to go through it's entire life correctly people on how to spell and pronounce their name. case in point: cady from mean girls. it's pronounced like katie but everyone said caddy.

I won't lie, I like the more modern names. I like "Madison" and "Cadence" and "Alexis". Not so much Kaylee, because that name is EVERYWHERE. I know "Stacie" is a wicked common name but when I was growing up, I didn't know anyone else who had it, and I liked knowing that I was the only one. I would have hated to have been a "Katie".

I just don't like common names. I think they're old-fashioned and boring. But I do agree that "Colbin" is an awful name. And that horrible "creative" mis-spellings should be avoided, because they are hard to spell but also very ugly to look at.

Although, I guess in a way, my name is a gross mis-spelling... sigh.

naaaaaaaaah, IEs are an acceptable alternative. what i can't stand is Ks where Cs should be.

bryan instead of brian pisses me off too.

and steven instead of stephen.
