 I'm kinda upset with the way they train their employees here at Fry's Electronics. We had a week full of orientation -three days, more like- and maybe an hour was just put into training us how to actually handle the cash register. The rest was on watching old high school-esque videos on the power of teamwork and the company's history and loss ( Read more... )

Man, they're serious! Everything comes together in more time. I was training for two weeks before I even got a tour of the office, and all my training was done in the basement. I also didn't know how to use the phone for a while aside from patient calls, what with the intercom buttons, everyone's extensions, and all these features I dont know what they are.

Best you can do as you adapt is to keep a pleasant face when a customer has to wait. Flushing's fast food places get new employees like musical chairs and it's easier to be patient with a newbie who smiles and asks politely to wait while she gets someone whenever she derps out at the register, than someone who just derps.
