Fannish things (real life update at some point.probably.)
-I should not have agreed to rewatch the 2Shy episode of The X-Files so late tonight. Just so creeped & grossed out.  A  fat eating vampire.UGH. Nighmare fuel. Watching Syzygy after that though was a good call though. "Happy Birthday, Bitch." There is some point where the girls are dancing to ( Read more... )

I haven't seen it in years and forgot just how good it is. Syzgy definitely one of my faves now.If only for the inter-cut Scully smokes and mumbles angrily to herself while Mulder is drinking and watching Keystone Cops scene.

I was just thinking about Torchwood the other day how that has like... gone nowhere. So. Africa was all, "Isn't that ON!?" And I realized I hadn't heard anyone on my flist spazzing out about it and that probably wasn't a good sign.

Based off my flist and the ratings I think a lot of people either held to their promise of not watching any more Torchwood/RTD or just gave up like I did. There might have been an interesting story there, but there was just too much filler and some details just felt wrong in an exploitative way. The show also got me thinking that perhaps as a storyteller it doesn't make sense to change the place and tone of a show, to kill off much of a cast, and change the way you write the remaining characters. At that point perhaps you are plain old alienating your loyal viewers and should just come up a new vehicle for telling your story.

/rambled sorry

Mmm, I think that the death of Vera does work though (sad as it is, and disappointing) in showing how serious/bad the whole situation is--just like the death of Ianto in COE is what truly brought home the threat of the 456 in a way a whole building of random people could not. He's not like Joss Whedon who just kills off characters because he can, sometimes for really no reason (see: Exit of Cordy from ATS and Deaths of Wash and Book on Firefly esp). I actually think this season has been pretty decent so far (even if I don't care for the new characters as much), there have been plenty of twists and turns and excitement and exhibitions of the dark side of humanity a la COE, and a few good character moments and references to COE's fallout emotionally as well in Jack and Gwen ( ... )

UGH Wash and Book.Still traumatized. :(

Hmmm, yeah I had heard that about that episode from a friend and was curious so I will probably watch that one as well when its all over. Jack's back story is always interesting.I made the mistake of watching the first MD ep that Jack slept with someone at a friend's house not knowing that her parents would be watching with us. SO AWKWARD.Will not make that mistake again haha.

I am nervous as well, the show is a bit character death happy, but I can't imagine they won't do an interesting (possibly death and) redemption arc. Not after all the character building they did with Cas. The teasers have looked really promising. One month, so close!
