The interesting thing about ritual magic is that it starts to work once you made the intention to perform it.
My wife has been miserable at her job for a good long time. I’ve wanted to lay down “tricks” on those who gossip about her or just make her job a hard place to be at each and everyday. But she’s been adamant that I don't do hexes and shit like that. So I respected her wishes, although I’ve been hankering to do a lot of damage from afar.
Instead, I’ve opted to do an uncrossing ritual followed by a Blessing one involving herbs, candles, and selected prayers from Psalms…and of course my own style that I’ve been employing for the past nineteen years.
For starters, I started the research to collect all the appropriate herbs and candles, including incense on the internet, since our local purveyors - including Magick Cauldron on Montrose and botanicas along Bellaire and Bissonnett - don’t have everything that I need. I found an excellent site and started jotting down my supplies.
Two days after preparing my ritual, a former co-worker, Eric came to our front door as my wife and I were having dinner. He had a job offer for her. My wife's declined his offers for reasons only she knew; except this time he was offering to sweeten the deal even more. My wife, in spite of the toxic work environment, wasn’t ready to throw in the towel at her present job until Eric could offer further concessions. They talked for a bit in private, and he left to say he will discuss the matter further with his boss.
Now the point I want to make about Eric is that he’s never stepped inside our townhouse before, and has only passed through the neighborhood only once to pick up my mother-in-law and deliver her to a party that we were attending.
Wednesday he parks in the back where the nearest door into our apartment is through the kitchen. But he doesn’t come through that door. He options to walk all the way to the front of the unit, and through our front door. Above our front door, is a picture of Saint Martin Caballero that I blessed and consecrated almost a year ago. Saint Martin Caballero is a Patron Saint that Catholic Hispanics and some practitioners of Caribbean/Latin magical operations request assistance for help from unexpected people or “who rely on the kindness of passing strangers for their livelihood.” Eric was just passing through. Saint Martin's been assisting us with extra pocket money from our neighbor, but I never imagined that he'd do something greater than this.
Thursday Eric's company made an offer; she verbally accepted. Monday she signed the paper. She provided her company her two weeks. She will take a week off, and start her new job in August.
Maybe I’m being too presumptuous to say that magic brought these events together, but I won’t be so ungrateful to say that it didn’t. I know from my heart that it did, and I am grateful with the Universe for Her assistance in this matter. Regardless that I didn’t complete an entire ritual, when Intent is strong and preparations are conducted with purpose in mind, the magic begins immediately.
I will still perform a ritual, but not an uncrossing one. I’ll perform a blessing ritual. In addition, since in my eclectic tradition I also communicate with the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi for the prosperity experienced in our home, I’ll do a ten day puja to thank her for all of her contributions.
I am very happy that things have turned out the way they have. I look forward to conducting the Blessing Ritual. What a strange and wonderful Universe I find myself in, I'm discovering each and every day
