I should mention that I am completely, utterly blown away by today's testimony in Perry v. Schwarzenegger, so I'm probably way too distracted to do this justice, but I have no time tomorrow, so I'm gonna give it a go anyway.

Yes, that is its one redeeming quality. Good cure for insomnia. (At least the chapters that aren't so patently offensive that it puts you in a blind rage.)

(Hey! Bella's mom lives near my mom!)

See, there are people. Not saying you, just saying people. There are people who would get that on a t-shirt.

Enjoy that little glimpse of Alice's past. Much like Carlisle's backstory we'll never see it again.

Can you hear me vomiting from that far away? I thought you could....

That's the most infuriating thing of all about Twilight-Meyer is not a complete no-talent, she has brilliant writing moments, and then she blows it all on two of the most narcissistic self-absorbed "It's all about MEEEEEEEEE" characters in the history of fiction.

Without any sense of irony or realizing that they're narcissistic and self-absorbed (like, say, Cathy and Heathcliff.) Yeah. I find it hard to fathom that people enjoy a book with such truly unlikeable main characters when there's no ironic intent.

Honestly, my summary wasn't much longer than the actual bit in the book about Alice. It was part of the overall monologuing, and that's it.

"trite, patented Evil Villain monologue. 'See how clever my plan is!'"

Does he also rub his hands together and talk about wanting to poison the water supply?
