“Daddy, read this to me? Daddy? Daddy! DADDY!”
Jayne woke with a start as the four year old shouted in his ear. “Okay, li’l bit.” He picked up his daughter and positioned her on his lap with the picture book. “Aww, not this one! I musta read this to ya a hundred times.”
“But Daddy, you do the voices of the dragon an’ enchanted bear so well.” She stared up at him.
Jayne sighed and wiped her nose with his large thumb. “Okay. Once ‘pon a time, there was a beautiful princess locked in a tower by the evil empire…”
