Updatey stuff

Well, it's been a while.

I've been doing the semi-lurker thing for the past few days as I try to get myself caught up with the goings on in lj-land. I'm doing a little reading, occasional visiting, rare commenting. Hopefully, I'll get a bit more regular with it, but, in the meantime, here's what's been going on in the land of Rayne.

1) Meds are working great!
As a result, I'm doing stuff I used to do like take walks, play Yahtzee with my husband, read BOOKS - it's been fabulous. I'm actually myself again, and it's been way too long. Unfortunately, it almost feels like the depression took my muse with it when it left. Not to fear, though...still going to beat those bunnies into shape. I have an Ethan (surprise, surprise) story that I'm wrestling with that I have high hopes for. Also, I'm going to ease my way back in with some drabbles, just to keep the writing regular. So expect to see some stuff here soon.

2) Dinner/drinks with favorite author...
Incredible - much whiskey was drunk. Mr. Godwin drank the Scottish variety, hubby drank the Irish variety, and I stuck with a nice Tennessee single barrel. We chatted, drank, chatted some more - at some point, I fell asleep on the man's lap *blush* All told, it was a wonderful evening - lots of silliness (he's a great big dork *g*) and wonderful conversation. He's pretty much adopted hubby - they're going to do the bach weekend thing next month. How cute are they? :-)

3) Birthday trip for youngest...
Took the Bit (her nickname looooong before Spike said it) to LA for her 16th birthday. We slept on a ship! It was gorgeous! Spent much time astounded at the sheer prettiness of the people, especially waiters and waitresses - do they ALL want to be actors? Went to the Long Beach aquarium and pet sharks (SHARKS) Very cool. We also had dinner in an Irish pub, where they had actual Guinness Stout on tap (joy). The most fun, though, was probably getting lost in West Hollywood. It's even fun just to SAY we got lost in West Hollywood. I can't think of too many things that sound cooler...

4) Work...
Still working three shifts for the time being. Not too bad, but it's leaving precious little time for anything else.

5) Miscellaneous stuff...
I'm cooking for my mom, so I'm doing a lot of whole foods type stuff. No sodium, low fat, no sugar. As a result, both households are eating much more healthy. Also, I've started running. I know - I didn't think it was possible either, but I'm doing it. More to the point, I LOVE IT! I never thought I'd see that day, but I just feel so great out there.

Well, that's all I can think of for now. I'll try not to stockpile so much next time :-)
