Just below the shoulders, long layers, thinning shears. Why?
the length will still let you put it up when you're gonna have a bad hair day. The french braid will have wispy tendrils that fall out and are WAY sexy.
Long layers, makes it lighter, bouncier, will make you look younger, more versatile - also looks good if you don't do anything other than blow dry.
Thinning shears (this is if you have thick hair), again, bouncier, lighter, takes years off, more manageable. Also, gives some lift at the roots.
Now, with the shorter hair, you dont' have to condition as often, mayber everyother day with a light rinse. Not so much damage. Oh! And go for some color! heck yeah.
Maybe something halfway would be a good compromise? Say, shoulderblades? I'm thinking that if it curls a bit, what's left of the auburn won't be noticeable anyway... (It's a theory, anyway. :)
I'm probably taking the first option more literally than you mean it. ;) Given that I prefer something more along the lines of a crew cut (see icon), I'm not really one to talk. But, seriously, I've always found short hair on women way sexier than long hair (with one particular exception, which goes to show you that nothing is absolute).
TMI time: For several years I used to cut my hair very short - and at one occasion shave it all off - in the summer, because it was hot and sticky. I gave up that tradition about three years ago and now have long hair, longest than I've had in years. I grow it and enjoy. But I know that next time I want a drastic change, I'll cut it extremely short. Because change is good for ya.
I love the idea of very short. Let your curls come out. Little to no care and you can pamper it into high gloss and health. Will bring out your eyes and facial shape. Sophisticated in a mature woman. Are you mature yet? ::ducking away from flying objects::
