Do you live near a library and do you have a card from there? If so, all of the libraries in Allegheny county (and I believe most of the libraries in the state of PA) have access ports for certain pay-use research websites, one of which is ancestry.com. So if a patron walked into our library and sat down at a computer they could log onto ancestry.com, full access, for 100% free. It just requires your active library card number.

I know it's too late to help for this month, but as long as you don't mind making a trip (depending on how far your closest library is, I suppose) I think it's a great asset and could in theory save you $25/month towards your travel fund. :)

Thanks Alyse! Unfortunately I paid for a full year up front (it was one of the few ways you could pay), but it'll be okay. It's actually providing very useful, so I find it to be worth it.

Not at all! I think ancestry.com is a fantastic resource and I'm just so happy to hear you're getting great use out of it. It rang a bell because I know a lot of our patrons enjoy using it and it's wonderful that you've had success. :)
