I actually got the name from the U-Kiss member; I had forgotten there was a Buffy character with that name until someone pointed it out a few weeks ago. We decided to go with Xander instead of Alexander because we wanted something a little more unique and because we already have one kid whose name starts with A.

We wanted unique but pronounceable & spellable names for all our kids. My real name is *very* rare and few people can spell or pronounce it right. So we named our other children Alisha & Bryson. Unique but not weird.

Thanks. So far both of us are recovering very well. He's got a little bit of jaundice but our other 2 kids did as well so I'm not worried. He may have a non-serious heart murmur later on but again so did both of our other kids. We're both home now & trying to settle into a routine.

I'm so glad you're bothing doing well. :) I remember when my niece was born how difficult it is the first few days getting into a routine. My sister was so sleep deprived I ended up staying up half of the time so she could get some sleep. I'm sure with two kids under your belt you're a master of it by now. :D

I'm sure it's good to be home. :)

It definitely is easier this go around because of my previous experience. Also, my husband is home with me 24/7 until after the New Year so that is a HUGE help. Also, my other 2 are old enough to entertain themselves & each other and also to help me as well. A lot different from when my son was born and my daughter was only 3 1/2. Never was I so grateful for daycare. That was so sweet of you to help your sister. It really is tough for one person to do it all alone.

Thank you so much. The whole process was a lot longer & more frustrating than I had anticipated and I ended up having a c section which I was hoping to avoid. In the end though, Xander's here and the both of us are healthy so as they say "all's well that ends well".

But that seems to be how it goes with the best-laid plans. As soon as they're put into action, something goes wrong. At least everything went well despite all of that.

That being said, I think I might be the person here that knows the absolute least about kids, so about all I can do is say good luck and offer moral support. I'll be a cheerleader, yay~

Forgive me for creeping on the rest of the comments, but . . . leukemia? Diabetes? *faints*

You, my lady, are one tough woman. I have so much respect for you, seriously. I don't even know if I can convey it properly. Please, please, recover safely and be healthy.

Thank you!!! So far Xander has been a very quiet & undemanding baby so I'm not as sleep deprived as I could be. My husband is very good with helping with feeding & changing, especially during the night. It did help having Xander in the nursery for the night while I was in the hospital. It took a little while for me to learn his little signals about when he's really ready to wake up & eat and when he's just fussing a little and will fall back to sleep if left alone.

I would be very shocked to see a comment from you that wasn't excited and didn't have exclamation points. Your enthusiasm and happiness put many smiles on my face. I think Xander's a pretty awesome name, too so I'm glad my husband agreed to it. My recovery has been much, much better than I thought it would be. It's my first c section so there are things that are very different than after a normal delivery, there are trade offs. Because of my weight and being diabetic and having leukemia I was really hesitant about getting a section because I'm at much higher risk of complications and infection. So far I'm actually healing faster and with less pain than the average c section patient so I'm very happy.

Hopefully I'll get some pictures posted up today or tomorrow for you to spazz over. :-)

I'm more into toddlers than babies myself. However, because he's mine I can't help but just adore him. As far as my leukemia is concerned I'm actually going to continue my current treatment for another 4-6 weeks and then I'll start on the regular oral med that I'll be on for the rest of my life unless they come up with something better ( ... )
