Today I really miss the world of women that I inhabited at Carleton. WA, CWI, the GSC (while I was there, it was almost all women). Loud, vocal women. And not so many old, white, self-righteous male M.D.s, who, as it turns out, piss me off to no end. And will also be my attendings in a couple of years.

Every Christmas, I get bath beads and bubble bath and similar nonsense in my stocking. Every year, I throw it in a bathroom drawer and forget about it. Because, seriously, how long has it been since I've even taken any sort of bath, let alone a bubbly or scented one? Few things are as satisfying as buying your kitten an overpriced cat toy at the fancy cat store down the street and then watching him play with it for two and a half hours and counting. I'm a good mommy.

I had a highly functional Christmas. It wasn't the best ever (probably sometime when I was little), but it wasn't the worst ever either (decidedly three years ago...). Today I held a human heart in my hands. It was about the size of a fist, like they say healthy hearts are supposed to be.
