I guess he came out too far when he saw the red light so he felt he had to back up so he wouldn't interfere with oncoming traffic. That was a really dumb idea though if he knew there were other cars behind him. At least you didn't get any serious damage done! That's definitely a good thing.

I've seen plenty of cars back up at stoplights - but only because on coming buses don't make their left turn properly so it's either get hit by the bus or back up.

That fender-bender sounds exceptionally crappy. So does work. Although a murder, fucked up as it is, might be a nice change of pace after 12'000 articles on the BOE and school system. The local newspapers went apeshit after they found that dude's wife in his freezer in Lyndhurst a few years back- I think they were mostly just waiting around for a good story [that wouldn't get them in trouble with those who have connections].
