I just had my reality check moment. I'm listening to a podcast and the hosts are checking in with the story about this woman who essentially had her face mauled and destroyed by a chimpanzee. Broke all her face bones, had to have her tongue rebuilt, is blind. AWFUL AWFUL.

This woman has no face, but still every day she gets up at 6am and goes for a walk even if she doesn't feel good. She's been through hell and back, and is still trying to have some quality of life.

So, yeah. That's my reality check.

I had my reality check earlier this week when we had to visit my BF's mother in the ICU and saw her completed sedated and intubated, and could get no real answer from the doctors on what the prognosis was. Only days earlier, she had been perfectly healthy and fine - makes you realize how quickly things can change, and that you should value every day of good health that you and the ones you love experience.
(luckily she is out of the ICU and on the mend now!)

Also, that woman on the phone needs a reality check in a bad way!
