With regard to the Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, I would imagine the nearest we have in the UK is probably the remains of the original Coventry cathedral, now looking a little incongruous next to its far more modern replacement and another sobering reminder of the cost of war.

Whilst the museum you visited does indeed sound rather harrowing, it's good to see that these things are being remembered for what they were and not given a rose-tinted view that might enable people to forget what a horrible, horrible episode of modern warfare this was.
