A dilemma

As I was driving from point C back to point A today, I realized a minor dilemma that I will be in in January when I'm back in Illinois briefly. My church is undergoing some serious conflict, to the point where the pastor has put his name up for call elsewhere in the church, because it's becoming apparent that he can't take our church to the next ( Read more... )

I think you should go back to your home congregation. They are part of your candidacy process, so you should show that you still care for them. But if you need to dive out after the service to avoid awkward conversations, that is up to you. When will you be back? Good luck with this decision!

I'm back for a week beginning of January. Get together at my place hopefully on the 6th.

This would where having a grandma who runs the universe comes in handy. If I had any interest in going back to my childhood congregation, I would not walk in the building without my grandma by my side. As long as she was with me, people would have to be very circumspect in their questions and I would be able to get out of any conversation I wanted by saying she needed to go talk to someone, or get home, etc.

You could just go visit Liz in Rockford, of course. That's a good excuse.
