I'm fond of a one step treatment philosophy: just don't do it. Whether it's self-harm, alcoholism, or any other negative behavior the only thing you have to do is stop doing it. If you can't do it on your own seek a professional that you can work with to overcome the problem. I self-harm because it's cathartic, it's a release from the anxiety, self-loathing, and suicidal thoughts. It makes me feel alive. But I haven't done it in a long time due to the fact that I sought and found the right resources to be my support network, people I can reach out to when I need to, and that's getting me by.
It's called a relapse, it happens dear. Just keep them clean and try not to beat yourself up too much about it, and try to stay clear of it. I've gotten rid of most of my blades, joined a single mothers group, and gotten on antidepressants. You could try joining a group or club that could get you in touch with others with similar problems, or similar interests.
I have had a lot of relapses since I quit a couple years ago, the worst for a several months after my daughter turned one. It takes a life change to truly break free. Like it sounds, it takes time, and relapses happen, slip ups happen. The key is not to give up. <3
(hope this doesn't sound horribly cheesey or anything, I'm trying to sound comforting. D= )
