Grey Gardens

Of course from the instant I heard about the Beales of Grey Gardens (the documentaries) years ago, I became intrigued and enthralled and OK so now that I've seen the HBO movie, I've moved on to somewhat obsessed. I watched the movie again last night and was yet again blown away by it. It may be the second best movie I've seen all year (the best ( Read more... )

I went Edie on my sister...she was telling her friends that I was "eccentric" and I said "oh please, it's not like I went all Grey Gardens on you yet, there are no raccoons in the walls!"

Please, because my raccoons are outside of course.

I WANT THAT DOLL and I love Edie with all my heart.

LOL--raccoons outside!!!

One question: I thought raccoons and cats wanted to kill each other in most cases?

So, my halloween costume is set!!! Now, where to get a trashed mink coat. Hmmm

You know, I thought the same thing but seeing the raccoons that show up outside..they (the cats and raccoons) just seem to ignore each other, I have seen the raccoons with babies just walk right past a cat sleeping in a basket and eat their food within touching distance.

I don't get the raccoons a lot, but in the late Winter/early Spring usually a family comes through for a few weeks...then they are gone. The last time they got stuck in the aviary and scared the birds and then one baby raccoon fell in the pool and screamed and they all walked away in a single file line, all 6 of them no doubt muttering to each other "let's get out of here, she's got this place booby trapped!"

Trashed mink coat...flea market, thrift store!? Antique resale shop..you know like an antique mall that has stalls with coats and knick knacks!? :D

Fucking long waits...I had originally got them that way. They had sent me "Beales of Grey Gardens" in the "Grey Gardens" envelope, typical of Netflix effing things up. No matter, b/c Beales of Grey Gardens is like the outtakes. I THINK, however, I am just going to buy the set now that I have to watch them again and I know any rental type place will have it on long wait. Plus I know I'll want to watch them over and over again!

So it's good? I have it recorded from On Demand but keep hearing how bad Drew is and that it's awful..so I have been scared. I trust your judgement and I really do want to see it, so I'll just bite the bullet already. I LOVED Two Lovers. Thought it was great..

Drew is brilliant in it. Thing is, Edie is such a flamboyant character that if you are not familiar with her as she was in the documentary, it can be jarring and seem unbelievable! I highly recommend it. I don't know anyone who is a fan of the docs who did not think HBO's version was anything but spectacular.

I agree completely..Edie is over the top so if you have not seen the documentaries, then the acting will seem so fake and over done but really, she captures Edie..and how awesome is Jessica Lange as the mother in bed with the hat and the singing!? God that was so right on.

My aunt wanted to see the HBO movie but I told her first she had to see my DVDs because it would make so much more sense and seem more real.
