What a Crazy Amazing Break!

Jan 03, 2005 20:49

So it sucks that Winter Break is over but I definitely had the best time ever. I partied and hung out with people I love and I had such a great time relaxing. Even though I was always busy and had things to do, I rested because I loved chilling with people and it was all just so great! I love everybody. Going back to school today was not that bad. No one has a perfect family, but it's the little imperfections in love (and life) that make the good moments even better. Or so I'm told.

Sometimes, cliches become cliches because they're right. How's that for cliche?

a mon avis, there's no everlasting love, contrary to jamie's cd :) I'd like to think otherwise, but i think there's only so much time you can spend with a person, and then it would be more productive to move on. You learn from every person you meet, and to stay with someone who you can't learn any more from just because of a promise you made is silly. You should stay with a person until you are no longer able to learn from, have endless conversations with, or sleep with them. Wouldn't you rather get the most out of every relationship in your life rather than limiting yourself solely to one person?

I totally agree with the whole learning thing. I've learned something from everyone I've encountered and especially people I've gone out with. But I think marriage is different. I think it's about learning to limit yourself to one person. But who knows, I'm not gettin married soon. Just a thought :) Thanks for posting your opinion and call me if you are ever going to Giant :)

no such thing as a perfect family!
at the dinner table, because we're dorks, we were discussing gay adoption. and i'll tell you, my dad is one of the smartest people i know and i have infinite respect for him, but i felt like punching him in the face. he usually is well-informed and has these irrefutable--you like my vocab?--arguments. but he said it was just "common sense" that a gay couple would be damaging to raise any child, and he needs no studies to prove it.
okay, so what would be more damaging to a child; gay parents or abusive parents? considering that a mother and a father would be more beneficial to a child than two mothers or two fathers, would it be better than two parents who are both very firm in their own religion and each raise their children with their own religious beliefs and confuse the children?
look, there are exceptions to every case of couples, homosexual, heterosexual, whatever. but i was pretty pissed off.

whew that felt good. i just needed a good, long rant.

I think homosexual couples are completely capable of raising a child. I think people of the same gender understand each other more. Like, I understand girls a lot better than guys and guys understand their guys friends better than girls. So with more understanding, you can just be better for the child. Support for Gay Marriage!

Well, he may not need studies to prove it, but there's been quite a bit of research to disprove it. Like the Newsweek article quoting studies that all show that gay parents are not emotionally damaging in any way to their kids, and in some cases even inspire their kids to be overachievers. I wish I'd kept that issue, it was quite interesting.
