Let's talk about predictability....
So, last night once again I stayed up instead of going to bed - why? To watch Rookie Blue of course! I think I'm done with the staying up to watch though...because once again, I was disappointed.
Hmm, where to start - how about Traci? That entire storyline was predictable, from the second Steve told her until he took the fall for her. There are so many different ways the writers could have played this story line.
Option 1 - Steve's a detective. He knows the relationship between Traci and Dex is complicated. Instead of telling her, he could have waited and handed her Dex's mug-shot at the end of the episode with a comment about "case closed". They still would have had a fight then (she'd be mad he didn't tell her) but the case would be solved. And for those who would want to know about it beforehand, a simple scene of Steve pulling Nick over and showing him the file with a comment of "make sure he's there" would let the audience know Dex is about to be handed his ass.
Option 2 - Traci tells Dex and he listens to her. That would have shocked me. As soon as Traci showed him the surveillance, I knew that no one was going to be arrested. Once again, Traci and Steve would have still had a fight about it (because it's obvious that Steve wants to help Traci and get Dex off her back).
Next - Dov and Chris. Really Chris? You're hitting below the belt with that comment about junkie brother. When Chris went down, I think that was the only part of the entire episode where I stared at my screen intensely, waiting to make sure Chris was okay. While I agree that Dov wanted to go to Oliver, having Chris go means he is admitting the problem and can get help without worrying about his job. I think admitting versus someone else spilling the beans does have an impact.
Dov and Chloe - ditch him already!!! I hate Chloe and want her off my screen. Get her back together with Wes and send her back to (as Oliver put it) "the cheating bitches of 27th".
And now, for my "favorite" part:
To all of the Andy bashers from this episode, obviously you've never been betrayed by someone you really love. Let me tell you, I have and I did not find her behavior bratty. She's hurt and she wears her emotions on her sleeve. For those of you who were upset that she didn't cheer up after Sam's kiss - she's not five!!!! That works for my first grade students (you have a scratch, here's a bandaid, all better) but not for an adult. A kiss doesn't make it better. I think Sam knows that and his reason was simply to show her that he loves her and is there for her no matter what.
The scene at the end - okay, although a little awkward, Andy's lion heart will help her forgive Oliver and I believe the two of them will be able to mend their relationship.
Think I should be done with waiting up and just watch the next morning?
Catch you on the flip side
