Chapter Two

"It's done, Buffy. The oracles are changing me back," said Angel as he walked down the stairs toward Buffy.

"Already?" she asked

"Yeah. They're rewinding the time."

"What do you mean?"

"They're taking us back to when the demon first attacked us. As in these past two days never happened," Angel looked down

"But they did happen! Angel!" cried Buffy, "What we did happened!"

"I know. And only I will remember," explained Angel

"When are they rewinding the clock?"

Angel looked at the clock,

"One minute."

"A minute? That's not enough time!" Buffy sobbed, "It's not enough time!"

She ran into his arms as he held her. Tears in his eyes.

"I know. I know."

Buffy pulled away from Angel and looked into his eyes then stared down at his chest. She slowly lifted her right hand and put it over his heart.

"I felt your heart beat."

Angel closed his eyes then put his hand over hers.

"I know," he whispered.

"It's not fair, Angel," she turned to look at the clock.

Ten seconds remained.

"I love you, Angel. I'll never forget," she promised as they both pulled in for a kiss.

The seconds ticked by as they continued to kiss passionately.

Three. Two. One.

"And in time, we should be able to-"

"Forget," Angel finished as they both were now having a conversation like the one they were having two days prior to the demon attack.

----------------------------------------------------

After Buffy left, Angel sat at his desk. Thinking about what he and Buffy could have had. But was then interrupted by Cordelia and Doyle.

"We've got trouble," they said in unison.

"What is it?" asked Angel

"Demon attacking a girl in her apartment near Redondo," Doyle explained.

"Yeah and we need to do research because according to Doyle this thing is HUGE," said Cordelia, who then noticed the broken window glass

"Oh, yeah. Uh a Mora Demon. I killed it though before it could attack," explained Angel

"Right. If that's your story," Cordelia turned to Doyle, "See, this is why we stay out of Angel's way when Buffy's around. Things get broken."

Doyle only nodded.

"Ok, well, Doyle you're coming with me. Tell me where this apartment is. We'll have to take the sewers. And Cordy?"

"I'm on it," she smiled

"Good. Call us when you've found something."
-----------------------------------------------
As Doyle and Angel walked through the tunnels, Doyle was the first to speak.

"So, that was Buffy?"

"That was Buffy."

"She's pretty...that must have been hard for you, seeing her again for such a short time."

"It was. But she was here for longer. Two days actually," Angel admitted.

"What do you mean?"

Angel sighed

"The Mora demon attacked us. I got some of its blood on me and it made me human. I went to the oracles to see if it was permanent and it was. But I asked them to change me back because I knew I wouldn't be able to help anyone," he explained

Doyle just stood there, taking it all in.

A minute passed as they continued to walk before he spoke

"So you gave up being human to be a demon again?"

Angel nodded

"Yeah."

"You had the one thing you've wanted in your unnaturally long life, and you gave it back?"

"Maybe I was wrong"

"Or maybe Cordelia was right about you being the real deal in the hero department. See, I would have chosen the pleasures of the flesh over the duty and honor any day of the week. I just don't have that strength."

"You never know your strenght until you're tested."
-------------------------------------------------------------
Once they arrived at the apartment, Cordelia called.

"It's called a Paranoia demon. It hypnotizes its victim and once its victim snaps out of the hypnosis they hear a paiinful screaming and its complete paranoia. The victim dies within five minutes of it."

"How do you kill it?" asked Angel

"The only way to kill it is by smashing its tool to hypnotize its victim. It's called the...clock? huh," answered cordelia, stunned by such a simple name.

"Thanks, Cordy."

"No problem.Oh and Angel?"

"Yeah?"

"Be careful. This thing is dangerous. Vampires nor any demon for that matter are immunne to it. Once your hypnotized, unless someone can kill the clock, you are its slave until it doesn't want you anymore."

"I'll kill it, Cordelia," exclaimed a confident Angel.

Chapter 3

When Angel kicked open the door, he was shocked by what he saw.

The paranoia demon was standing over its victim. It's antenas drilled inside the girl's head.

"Angel!" yelled Doyle as Angel snapped out of his state of shock.

He ran toward the demon with the axe.

However, before Angel could even lift up the axe, the demon telepathically pushed Angel against the open door.

"He's telepathic? Great. Way to leave that out, Cordy," Angel said outloud to himself as he got up, this time being able to stab the demon as Doyle distracted him.

Once Angel attacked him, the demons antennae's retracted but the girl began to scream in pain.

Angel searched all over the demon for the clock, but couldn't find it.

Doyle was passed out after the demon threw him across the room. So Angel was left helpless as the demon began to attack Angel psychically and telepathically.

By the time Doyle awoke from unconsciousness, Angel was helpless on the floor. His eyes barely open, but open enough to follow the clock that swayed from side to side.

"Oh, God. Angel!" yelled Doyle.

It was too late. The demon had already hypnotized Angel.

------------------------------------------------------------

"Where's Angel?" asked Cordelia, once she saw Doyle enter without Angel.

Doyle took a deep breath

"The demon got Angel"

"What do you mean the demon got Angel? Like hypnotized him? Killed him?"

"He hypnotized him and took him to wherever his dungeon is," said Doyle, taking a seat.

Cordelia just stood there, taking in the news.

"What are we going to do? What can we do?" she asked, thinking

"I don't know. But I do know we have to act fast," said Doyle.

"I knew it. He's such a liar. He said he was going to kill it and look what happened? Ugh. I don't even know why I put up with him anymore. You know? I come here, hoping to become a famous actress and this is what I end up doing. Working for a vampire who might not even be alive anymore-"

"Buffy," interrupted Doyle.

"What? Hello, were you even listening to a word I said?" asked Cordelia

"I'm sorry."

"God. Why does every conversation have to lead with her. She's not that great you know."

"No, Cordy. Listen, Buffy is still in town right? Didn't she say something about visiting her dad? She can help us save Angel."

"Oh, right. Buffy. I'll see if I can get her to help. It is Angel after all. She'd do anything for him," stated Cordelia.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"Boy, that was fast," said Doyle as Buffy entered Angel Investigations.

"Any leads on where this demon could have taken him?" asked Buffy, getting straight to the point.

"Hello again to you too, Buffy," said Cordelia, sarcastically

Buffy just gave her a look

"Well, there's really no hints on where this demon hibernates. But, there is something in here about how it gains its energy from loud, noisy, and eww sweaty environments."

"That's all it says?"asked Buffy searching through the book

"That's all I found," said Cordelia.

"AHH!" screamed Doyle as he pounded his fist against his head.

"Visions," said Cordelia, running over to him

"Angel. He's alive. He's in pain. Underground in a basement. There's dancing. Loud music. Ahh!...Scribbles. That's the club name," finished Doyle.

"How do I kill it?" said Buffy, getting ready to leave.

"You have to destroy the clock. That will stop the hypnosis," said Cordelia as Buffy walked out the door.

Chapter 4

Buffy headed straight for Scribbles. With anger and pain at the thought of Angel suffering.

Once she arrived, she searched for a back door. She found one at the back of the alley. Being guarded by vampires.

"Let's just make this quick," she told them.

Staking one before she even finished the sentence.

One down. Two to go.

After she dusted the other two she broke the lock on the door and slowly walked down the stairs. The music from upstairs resonating from wall to wall.

There was another door at the end of the long hallway as Buffy carefully opened it. After entering the room she found several other doors.

Walking to the first door, she heard a noise. Stopping to listen more closely, she heard a painful scream, above the music. It was coming from the third door.

Opening it, she saw Angel helpless and in pain as the demon had its antenas drilled into his back as Angel was soaked with sweat.

Buffy quickly ran toward the demon and kicked it. Making it retract it's antenas from Angels back.

"Angel!" yelled Buffy as she ran toward him.

She held him in her arms as he layed there in pain. Screaming and shaking in complete terror.

Buffy didn't know what to do. And didn't have to because then the demon grabbed her and threw her against the wall.

Buffy got up slowly and watched as the demon was about to drill its antenas in Angel's back again. However, this time she spotted the clock. Attached around the heart of the demon, Buffy ran toward it and punctured the heart as the clock fell to the floor.

Before Buffy could even think about what to do, she stepped on the clock as the hypnosis wore off and the demon turned to dust.

Buffy ran toward Angel, who had stopped screaming once Buffy had stepped on the clock.

"Buffy," he whispered.

"Shh.I'm here," Buffy whispered as she held him in her arms.
"You're safe now, Angel"
