It seems like that happened somewhere else a few years ago...I think it was Spain and Gibraltar that were involved. I don't remember the details but they were similar--someone got accidentally lost, crossed a border, hijinx ensued...

Close. Great Britain accidentally invaded Spain this past summer when they were conducting a naval exercise intended to land on Gibraltar and...missed.

As M describes it: "Royal Marines presumably not correctly reading their GPS went ashore slightly to the right of the desired location. Bemused Spaniards and humour ensued, etc."
