Is it just me, or there is a significant change of writing focus in Buffy fandom in the past couple of years, where femslash becomes more and more prominent, when male slash withers and dies

I’ve been away, so just been catching up on interesting posts via the herald.
I’m not sure if there’s been a rise in femslash (it’s not my thing, so I tend to let the posts wash over me) as it is a decline of some of the main m/m slash pairings being written - so maybe it’s just the proportions that are skewed? I don’t know.
When I started writing fic back in 2006, S/X was a huge pairing, and you could guarantee that every day of the three month long fall_for_sx had a story attached to it. That has declined over the years, and I’m sad to say the last couple of years at fall_for_sx, there have been whole weeks with almost nothing posted. And of course spring_with_xan died a death a few years ago, which is a great shame as it was an opportunity to play with the whole gamut of Xander possibilities
