I am so, so glad that you managed to get your dental work for free! My mom has heard of that program and has been telling me how awesome it is. I am so sorry you had to endure hell by waiting all day but still, how awesome you got all your dental work done for free! Yay!
You're not being whiny. Marshall is being stupid with raising everything. And to add to that, there were no budget cuts so they're just trying to make as much money as they can. Instead of using Amazon, have you thought about renting your text books? Katie and I did that for our Film and Fiction class. I forget the name of the website but you can go online and "rent" your textbooks for a hell of a lot cheaper than buying them.
