Gah. I'm sorry to hear about all of this. It's just another sign of how bad the economy must be if a superstar like you wasn't snapped up immediately.

That is very kind of you to say. However, perhaps it's an assertion by the powers that be that I had a vastly inflated opinion of myself and my skills.

And a poor reckoning of how far people in my professional network would extend themselves to help me get back in the saddle.

But humbling experiences are valuable.
