You're right about change starting from where you stand. Coming out to your family made a difference in your life. While I, too, don't put up much of a challenge when it comes to the bigger picture, because I am merely complacent in living my life, the more zealous gay rights advocates, our contemporaries, will criticize us for not thinking beyond our own needs, in lieu of the needs of the greater community of which we ought to consider ourselves a part.
