I Don't Like The New Suicide Squad, And That's OK

I read the first collection of the New 52’s version of Suicide Squad today. to be honest, I didn’t like it. It seemed needlessly brutal, wallowing in unnecessary character death and having the members of the Squad kill relentlessly in such quantity that after a few pages, the deaths stopped registering. On the other hand, I'm not comparing DC now to the way it was 20 years ago, I'm comparing it to Marvel now, and the way DC was 4 years ago, and finding it not worth my money. And I have a three-figures-a-month comics habit.

And you're exactly who they should be listening to. You're the engaged customer buying lots of comics every month. I'm the guy curled up with the Walt Simonson Thor omnibus and hasn't bought monthly since before they killed off Vic Sage.
