I graduated college for the last time (presumably) about six weeks ago. According to my dissertation committee, I should be putting together a book proposal and an article from my dissertation this summer. The air conditioner at work went out yesterday. Two hours later, after the heat index inside the building got to around 100, they sent us home. But they did not restart the a/c until 8am today. So we're sweating again.

California Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill today that requires history textbooks and teachers to discuss the contributions of gay, lesbian, and transgendered Americans. Yesterday Ohio's legislature passed a bill allowing concealed weapons in bars and other places that serve alcohol. Because guns and alcohol mix well. Well, the law does say that people carrying guns cannot actually drink alcohol. So there's that.

I work in a customer service call center. I am surrounded by about a hundred other customer service representatives (CSRs), but we barely know each other because, well, we're answering phones all day.
