Survey taken from tigerweave

1. The illness I live with is: Chronic Kidney Disease

2. I was diagnosed with it in the year: 2011

3. But I had symptoms since: hard to say; I've been tired and lacking in energy and anemic most of my life.

4. The biggest adjustment I’ve had to make is: putting off having kidss; if I wasn't sick, I'd prob have one/two by now.

5. Most people assume: that I am in pain; I'm not thus far (touch wood) but am just extremely tired 99.9% of the time and getting worse as this illness progresses. They also assume that I can never have kids and I have to give the thought up but how wrong they are. I will have kids if it kills me, literally and that's all there is to it. - after a transplant I'm thinking if at all.

6. The hardest part about mornings are: I'm still tired once I get up.

7. My favourite medical TV show is: I love medical documentaries.

8. A gadget I couldn’t live without is: computer; love it, but it's nothing to do with my condition.

9. The hardest part about nights are: hearing my heart pumping way to fast and hard and thinking about my high blood pressure which is getting harder to control.

10. Each day I take __ pills: up to five pills but it should be a lot more like vitamins and stuff that I find hard to swallow.

11. Regarding alternative treatments I: haven't been told about any but i use to take this herbal tea from the health food shop which was meant to be good for kidneys.

12. If I had to choose between an invisible illness or visible I would choose:Well since I am also blind, I don't really get away with any such invissible "disabilities" so it doesn't worry me.

13. Regarding working and career: I'm working at my second, but first fulltime job and have been at the current place for coming up to two years; thinking if a transplant has to be delayed, I might see if I can go part-time here because I'm finding life harder and harder to deal with having to commit there every day, and the travel.

14. People would be surprised to know: as I said above, that I haven't given up on having kids and I never will until my biological clock is up in which case I'll have too. :(

15. The hardest thing to accept about my new reality has been: again, I can't just have a kid and expect everyone to be happy for me, seriously.

16. Something I never thought I could do with my illness that I did was:wow i dunno; silly question really.

17. The commercials about my illness:There's none really, except about diabetes which I am going to be tested for as I'm showing a few symtoms.

18. Something I really miss doing since I was diagnosed is: jetting off O/s whenever I feel like it. Now I have to deal with insurance which won't cover me thus far.

19. It was really hard to have to give up:See above; it's not a permanent thing though but still ..

20. A new hobby I have taken up since my diagnosis is: nothing really

21. If I could have one day of feeling normal again I would:Run; I'd go somewhere with nothing in the way and just run and run; burn up energy.

22. My illness has taught me: that as my kidneys get worse, everything else in the body starts to play up.

23. Want to know a secret: You already do; kids; I will never give up on the idea even if my partner thinks he has.

24. But I love it when people: help me through breakdowns that i have and they understand why I have them.

25. My favourite motto, scripture, quote that gets me through tough times is:There's a few; can't think of them off the top of my head. Live for the moment; etc etc.

26. When someone is diagnosed I’d like to tell them: All the best.

27. Something that has surprised me about living with an illness is: I went from having like the strongest immune system ever when I was younger, to having an extremely weak and frail one. I pick up any and everything if i don't take procortions.

28. The nicest thing someone did for me when I wasn’t feeling well was: wait on me which they (my boyfriend and family) often do anyway.

29. I’m involved with Invisible Illness Week because: Huh? (exactly)

30. The fact that you read this list makes me feel: If you mean this survey, it makes me feel that you want to try and understand what I'm going through.
