The Pope and Luke... together at last

Well, I've taken a few days off livejournal again. In the mean time, I see there's been a little drama over the death of the Pope. I don't guess I have a lot to say about it, but I'll go ahead and throw in my 2 cents a few days after the fact

You say he's never personally harmed a gay person, but I distinctly remember that night he took a swing at you as we left the bar and I had to take him down in the sand volleyball pit.

some people are just filled to the brink with anger at everything in the world they don't believe in. as soon as someone dies (i'm thinking back to ronald regan, here) everyone jumps on the 'i hated that person from the beginning' bandwagon and sprays hate words everywhere. i think it's pretty much common fact that the catholic church has been oppressive in many ways since the middle ages, but isn't anyone positive anymore? can't we just look at john paul II and say, hey, here are all the good things he did, and let's look forward from there?

i appreciate your words. this pope represented an organization that is oppressive and intolerant and ripe with molestation, but human life is something that should be respected on all levels, in living and in death, and the religious beliefs of others are nice to be respectful to, as well.

Those are some really good words. A lot of people on LJ blow a lot of smoke, and it is hard for me to reply to them when I really know how they feel inside. Keep on Rockin in the Free World!!
