cognitive-biobehavioral self-treatment and a pony

I have steps now, prescribed by a professional. I say them in front of the mirror and generally feel like a colossal douche bag but they are super helpful.

oooh steps? man, I am jealous. My therapist told me sort of the basics and never mentioned CBT again, and I have this feeling it would really help! good luck :)

My professional has me doing this:

Step 1: Relabel
Step 2: Reattribute
Step 3: Refocus
Step 4: Revalue

It's commonly used by people with obsessive compulsive behavior but it's also useful for people with general anxiety disorders. Since I can't scan my awesome instruction book I went ahead and hit up Google for a surrogate: http://hope4ocd.com/foursteps.php

The fact that you are doing this, despite whatever noise your selfdom makes, means that you are taking control.

From all of us stuck in the OCD loop, I say: congratulations. Show your self who's boss.

just remember to also be kind to yourself~~<3

I often get very frustrated once I realize just how jacked up and stuck my thought process is
but if I can't be kind to myself about it and let that go too, then my efforts are meaningless.

so let the douchebag thought go too. <3 What you are doing takes serious nerve :D
