He still has nightmares.

Quieter, perhaps, and less violent. But they're there.

But at least he has a Villiers here, now. Quietly awakened by those nightmares.

And, as always, saddened by their appearance.

Shaken from sleep, he'll sit up again, cricks be damned, and whisper soothing words to the teen, hands doing their best to still his movements with gentle care.

And this time, he doesn't wake up.

Eyes still closed, he wraps himself around Villiers and clings, moaning quiet anguish.

More quiet murmurs, arms wrapping around the boy's body, holding him close and secure.

Maybe if he can work him through the nightmares, it will stop. Maybe.

When he was little, it worked, at least, with his small nightmares of nothing.

It's easy to tell when he does wake up, because the shivering stops.

But his breath still flutters as he hugs Villiers close, kisses his shoulder, murmurs: "Thank you," and closes his eyes.
