Summary: With all the people around, do you think you’d ever get lonely?
“With all the people around, do you think you’d ever get lonely?” Donghae looked at Hankyung as he stirred his drink.
The two were seated in the back corner of some café, Donghae with his cup of coffee and Hankyung with his cup of tea. They had each ordered something small to munch on but had quickly consumed it after taking the first bite.
Hankyung looked at Donghae. He was dressed casually, just shorts and a t-shirt. The two had actually come from the practice room where they had done their daily dance exercises. He took a sip of his drink and thought about his words carefully.
“Sometimes, I do but those tend to past quickly. With a group like ours, there isn’t much room to be lonely.”
“True, but sometimes you can still be lonely even surrounded by people that love and care for you.”
Hankyung looked carefully at Donghae. He stared into his eyes and noticed emotions that he would’ve missed had he not been looking carefully. “Things have been tough for you, haven’t they?”
Donghae sighed. “A bit, but aren’t they tough for you too, hyung?”
Hankyung shrugged his shoulders. “A bit, but I manage.”
They smiled a bit at each other before turning to sip their drinks. A not entirely uncomfortable silence settled over the two as they finished their drinks.
“Shall we head back to practice? I have something I was working on and I could use your help.”
“Sure.” Hankyung smiled. They grabbed their bags and headed off.
What happened that day was never spoken of again, but the two had a better understanding and connection to one another. With a brush or a glance, the sense of loneliness that would come over them at random times would instantly vanish, replaced with a sense of warmth and care.
