As much as I feel for Snape, I still think he's a miserable, bitter man.

I felt kinda bad for Petunia.

I wonder how they're going to do this scene in the movie.

knowing the movie people, they'll probably cut it to like 10 seconds and we'll only see Dumbledore telling Snape he'll have to be the one to kill him.

I wonder how they're going to manage Dobby's death?

Well yes but... pica_scribit September 1 2007, 01:36:23 UTC
I don't think that was ever in doubt. But the fact that he loved once just saved the whole frickin' wizarding world, so I think I can forgive him a little bit.

Like everyone and their grandmother, I love this chapter. Doesn't change the fact, however, that Snape will always be a hateful, grude-carrying jackass in my mind.

I'm a little surprised this is the absolute favorite chapter of the whole series for so many people. My personal one is probably The Forest Again, I thought that'd be more common. :O

Too much exposition pica_scribit September 1 2007, 01:41:38 UTC
I don't know if I have a favourite chapter, per se (maybe the whole sequence at the climax of PoA), but this isn't it by a long shot. I think it hits us over the head with way too much exposition, when half of the stuff shown could have been inferred but left unsaid. I was at Sectus when the book came out, which is more or less a Snape-centric Con, and all the Snape fans were tearing their hair out over how this chapter more or less destroyed every piece of Snape fanfiction ever written.

I have to agree with you. While I do like this chapter a lot, I loved The Forest Again and that one made me cry the most by a long shot.

This chapter, along with the next one, is full of sad. This is probably when I started tearing up. I loved that we finally found out all this back story, though it makes me want a Marauder-era novel. I knew once HP was done, it was done, but now I really want to know more about their time at Hogwarts, leading up to Book 1!

This chapter definitely makes me think of how things could have been so different. Harry would have never been, Neville might have been the "chosen one", etc. Mind blowing y'all! LOL.

4- I assumed the password really was Dumbledore. One last subtle way of Snape saying he really was working for the good side.

Remus and Tonks pica_scribit September 1 2007, 01:45:03 UTC
I was almost glad Remus died as well. Actually, I'd been expecting it for a long time, so it was hard for me to be sad. I can't stand Remus/Tonks either, and their deaths makes their whole 'ship really finite, whereas Remus/Sirius has years and years which can be played with in infinite ways. My puppies are together again now. That's all I ever wanted.
