It was 2nd or 3rd place tear jerker chapter for me. Chapter 33 is 1st place and either this chapter or chapter 16 brought on the 2nd place tear jerker...ness ;_;

"Does it hurt?" = SO EFFING SAD :(
That absolutely killed me...even moreso than the fact that Collin died. I loved seeing James and Lily and Remus and Sirius come back and encouraging him...It broke my heart ;_;
And STFU Hagrid. He sort of killed the last part of the chapter with his yelling :\

"Does it hurt?" That, and Sirius' answer 'Not at all. Quicker and easier than falling asleep' were just so... Sad and such ... I can't even say how I felt. They're so true and so Sirius.
- Harry passing the job of destroying the last horacrux to Neville. - James, Lily, Sirius and Remus walking with Harry to the meeting with Voldemort. The completion of Harry being able to speak with each of them one last time, to hear his mother say she was proud of him, Remus tell him that it was ok that he died and knew it would make things better for little Teddy. Tears. - Harry bravely standing there accepting death to protect all those he cared about. The fact that he did come back from the dead does not detract from the heroism of that action. Because at that moment he didn't know he would.

Everything about this chapter made me cry. Harry's walk to the forest, all the memories flooding him at Hagrid's hut, Colin's death, his talk with Neville, Ginny comforting the dying girl....they all brought me to tears.
But I just outright wailed when Lily, James, Remus and Sirius came back. This is, I think, one of the most iconic scenes of the whole series--Harry walking to his death, flanked by his dead loved ones. It's just an utterly indescribable image. Harry has had so many people taken from him unfairly, so much love lost, and here it is, all at the end--a moment summing up the real, true hero he is, finally reunited with his family.

Italics are impressions from my first read, when I did not yet know what was going to happen.
1) First thought. Harry has willingly faced death many times before, but now he knows he must make himself go from a position of relative safety into certain death. That takes a very special kind of courage.
2) Harry contemplates his death. Harry counting his hearbeats and wondering how many more there would be and whether dying would hurt was heartbreaking for me, but he never even considers not doing it.
3) The empty portraits. Symbolic of Harry being alone at last, without help or comfort from the living world.
4) Harry perceives Dumbledore as cold and calculating. I still can't see it that way. I think that *somehow* Dumbledore was able to predict what would happen, just as it seems he predicted every other thing that happened in this book. But it was essential for Harry to believe that he was going to his death, and for him to willing choose it. I wish I could explain this better. Harry knows that Dumbledore chose rightly as

There isn't much there yet, I fear, but I'm hoping more people will start joining. Word of mouth is our best friend! I'm hoping to start a Neville/Harry/Ginny fic at some point in the not-too-distant future.

I'm probably always going to get a little huge lump in the back of my throat no matter how many times I read it.

This is my favorite chapter in the whole series.
