this community has been great!
and this book was amazing. i'll really miss all the anticipation and general HP-ness.

as for the wrap up?
I loved it. everything ties itself up, i dont have one major question left unanswered. all i wish is that harry had named one of his kids sirius (that had BEST be jame's middle name), and that run had named his son fred.
other than that its a great ending.

Yes, I was all 'He didn't name his firstborn son Sirius Remus???!!' But I think that James' second name is Sirius. It just has to be!

Chapter 36 The Flaw in the Plan annalisa_lj September 3 2007, 21:14:31 UTC
1) Back to the forest and the Death Eaters aren’t cheering Harry’s death. Something has happened to Voldemort. Harry takes a quick peek and surmises that both he and Voldemort fell briefly unconscious and then returned. So what did Voldemort experience while he was unconscious? Was he the child in that place with Harry? Did he see the child and know that was what he would become without remorse? Was he given a choice? No real answers to these questions, but I wondered.

2) Bellatrix speaks to Voldemort as to a lover. Umpteenth reference to this and I say it again - that gal is sick. Her love seems largely unrequited too. I mean she does enjoy some degree of favor, but Voldemort treats her like dirt just like everyone else. Here we see him speaking coldly to her and refusing her help. Whatever happened to her husband? If he appeared in this book, I’ve forgotten that detail.

3) Voldemort is not completely confident that Harry is dead. He doesn’t usually get knocked unconscious when he kills someone. He sends someone ( ... )

I thought that maybe Harry didn't feel pain from the Cruciatus curse because Voldemort was using the Elder Wand which Harry was actually the master of? Maybe that's just wishful thinking and it doesn't explain the dementor thing.

5) I think it's just that the Elder Wand will not act properly against him, since he is its true master.

The Flaw in the Plan
Part 1

font size="8">THIS IS IT. 7 books in the making!

Too much awesomeness in this chapter, like whoa.

Bellatrix is such a Voldemort fangirl.

Narcissa: At first reading, I was pleasantly surprised about her. She did not give a rat's ass about anything other than getting to Draco. Once again, we see her as a concerned and worried mother. I love that she kinda saves Harry's life by proclaiming him dead.

Oh Voldemort, must you play with your victim even if he's dead.

Hagrid carrying Harry back to the castle- Harry could feel Hagrid's arms trembling with the force of his heaving sobs; great tears splashed down upon him as Hagrid cradled Harry in his arms [...] SERIOUSLY even though we know Harry's alive, just placing myself in Hagrid's shoes makes me SO SAD. Hagrid thinks Harry's dead :( And then Hagrid beginning to yell at Bane but then begins to stutter as he says aloud that Harry's dead. My heart breaks for his pain right now.

"Harry Potter is dead. He was killed as he ran away, trying to save himself ( ... )

RE: Charlie Weasley-- Me too!! He only gets slight mentions here and there and only has a part in a couple of the books. We totally get jipped. I don't really understand what the point of his character was.

My boyfriend (who's English) cleared this up for me: in the UK "bitch" isn't a curse word, it's just an insult (like "idiot"). But it's nice that they kept it in the US version.

Italics are impressions from my first read, when I did not yet know what was going to happen.

1) Harry's awareness returns. Again. He has the presence of mind this time not to move. He plays dead and waits to see what will happen.

2) "It was Bellatrix's voice, and she spoke as if to a lover." It seems to me that that makes Voldie/Bella pretty explicitly canon. Anyone have any objections? So, what happened to Rodolphus? We haven't seen him at all in this book. Did Bella dump him, or did he die off screen and no one cared?

3) Voldemort apparently took a hit. The AK he cast at Harry knocked him down or something. He does not understand why this has happened, but it makes him understandably nervous. Voldemort is just now getting up, which probably means that Harry's chat with Dumbledore took no time at all.

4) Harry's luck holds. Of all the Death Eaters, the one to come and examine his body is Narcissa Malfoy -- someone Harry can bargain with. Because Harry can offer her something far more valuable that anything Voldemort ( ... )

I agree about LV/Bella. I felt for McGonagall, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny. Though we, the reader, know Harry's alive, they don't and it's heart breaking to see their reactions :(

And Neville is amazing. I bought the shirt from Hot Topic with him on it...I thought it was so appropriate it said "my hero" on it :) I usually don't like HT that much, but hey! I love me some HP stuff.

Yeah, Hot Topic has some awesome HP merchandise. I have a Ravenclaw keychain and a Dumbledore's Army teeshirt.

I also am sad that McGonagall was not a traitor. JKR could have totally played that one off, and it would have been an AWESOME surprise twist. *sigh*

Part 2

OOOOHHHH shit...it's the face off 7 books in the making....the epic battle.... Harry VS Voldemort

Harry taunting Voldemort and calling him Tom Riddle is so damn badass. I love it.

[...] and he saw shock flit across the snakelike face, though it was instantly dispelled;

OH SHIT HE'S GOT YOU VOLDIE!

And then Harry telling Voldemort about Snape. And Voldemort was actually going to spare her. I think he really did like and trust Snape if he considered sparing her.

WTF Voldemort calling Harry "little boy"? I'm torn between laughing and wanting to curse him.

"But before you try to kill me, I'd advise you to think about what you've done....Think, and try for some remorse, Riddle...."

I love this part...I love that Harry taunts him (that's how I perceive it).

"The true master of the Elder Wand was Draco Malfoy."
Blank shock showed in Voldemort's face for a moment, but then it was gone.

OH SNAP VOLDS. You're not the master!

"I am the true master of the Elder Wand."
I didn't see that one coming. /sarcasm

"Avada Kedavra ( ... )
