New books!

For the first time in quite a few years I didn't receive any books for Christmas. Oddly, I was quite ok with that as I have *cough* plenty of books on my tbr mountain and I really do want to read them. I did however pick up several on a shopping trip with my daughter and grand-daughter between Christmas and the New year ( Read more... )

Aren't we supposed to be getting rid of books? *g* But I'm as guilty, having received four books for Christmas: Richard, Duke of York: King by Right, Stephen King's End of Watch, The Invaders: How Humans and Their Dogs Drove Neanderthals to Extinction, (I'm chomping at the bit to read that one,) and a new, expanded edition of Alexander's Lovers, which, I suppose, doesn't count, as I'll be getting rid of the original.

I love Atlases, too! One of my prize possessions is, big surprise, The British World: An Illustrated Atlas. Helps me know where I'm going...and where I want to go next!

LOL... yes, well... *cough*

The Invaders sounds fascinating. Look forward to your review of that. And Alexander's Lovers. Good lot of books you've got there. Btw I just got that Nick Crane book, The Making of the British Landscape... it's *gorgeous*.

Glad I'm not the only atlas freak. Your prize possession is a British atlas, mine is The Atlas of North American Exploration. Love it to bits.

The Altas looks very interesting! I've always been intrigued by the polar voyages.

And funny how you have an atlas of here, while I have one of there. *g*

Oh, and I love your icon!

Ooh, they all sound wonderful! Congratulations on the great finds you made - some of them were such bargains, too - and the many hours of reading enjoyment ahead of you.

For some reason I'm really pleased with these little bargains, I think mainly because as you said, they sound wonderful. I've already started the Daybook and it *is* wonderful.
