His Father's Wand

I wrote this a while back, all in one sitting, partly inspired by my essay on Neville's Mimbulus mimbletonia and partly just because I really like Neville as a character. Yesterday I took another look at it and did some rewriting, and I've decided to repost and link to a couple of appropriate fanfic communities ( Read more... )

Here via hp_shipless. I like this fic, a lot. Your Neville is written very nicely, he's absolutely in-character :-)

Thanks so much for the feedback. :) The area of my writing that I've been particularly concentrating on lately is improving my characterizations, improving the emotional and people aspects of my writing, so your telling me that you think that Neville is in-character is exactly what I want to hear. :)

This is beautiful! It's subtle and carefully woven and wraps around the reader like a blanket. I love Neville, and you have made him so real. I honestly can't wait to see what happens in canon when Neville finally gets a wand that suits him. Thanks for the lovely fic.

Thanks so much for your review. :) I'm also eagerly looking forward to finding out what happens. I suspect I'm going to be writing more Neville-centric one-shots after we got HBP.

Here via genfic_hogwarts. This is such a lovely story--the dynamic between Neville and his gran that you provide here works so well and felt quite realistic, and my heart was breaking into tiny pieces right to the end of the piece.

Oh, this is one of the best Nevillefics I've ever read. I'm in love with the whole Longbottom family, and you just portrayed them so beautifully. :)

Excellent fic. It is very well-written and I like how Neville's gran is protrayed in it. She is like my own grandma, loving and kind, yet a bit stern and formidable at the same time.
